Shared calendar meetings show up with the wrong time on my calendar

Overview

If your organization uses shared mailboxes for scheduling departmental meetings, the shared calendar meeting may show up on your calendar with the wrong time (several hours ahead or behind your local time).

Cause

The likely reason for this is that the shared mailbox has not been set up with appropriate regional settings.

Resolution

See How do I update shared mailbox time zone settings in Exchange Online? for resolution.

The resolution requires that you have administrative access to your Exchange Online tenant.

Once the settings are adjusted to match your locale, the problem will go away for all newly scheduled meetings; old meetings may need to be adjusted or recreated.
