How do I enable text message notifications for email in Outlook on Office 365?

There's a nifty Office 365 feature that some may find useful - especially in environments where audio or display notification for email might not be sufficient to alert you to the arrival of a new message.

You can configure Outlook to send you a text message when an email arrives, and here's how you set it up:

Navigate to Office 365 Outlook options by clicking the Settings gear and choosing Options:

Now click on General and choose Text Messaging:

Click on Set up text messaging:

The wizard will then walk you through selecting your wireless provider:

Entering your phone number:

and, finally, entering a code that is sent to your phone as a confirmation:

You can also set up text alerts for calendar entries and delete your text settings from the same General > Text messaging options screen.
