Microsoft’s Office Mix is an add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 that bridges the gap between simple presentations and the future of interactive learning. Office Mix aims combines the audio and visual stimuli of screencasts with PowerPoint, allowing one to prerecord oneself and create an engaging multimedia experience.
It seems PowerPoint is attempting to replace the conventional whiteboard by supporting a tablet-driven experience, allowing one to write notes on the presentation real-time. Other features to note include the addition of quizzes in PowerPoint and an analytics system that enables a teacher to figure out how best to utilize time spent in the physical classroom.
Presentations with Mix are hosted in the cloud, and this enables students to access the presentation, effectively the classroom, regardless of their physical location.
